Pretty Little Pinwheels

I finally knocked something out from the UFO pile:-)  I don't even remember when I pieced this top!

I dug in to my massive stash of repros and used this awesome Pinwheel Baby Quilt pattern by Jodi at Pleasant Home for the Moda Bake Shop.  I just had to make it when I saw the little prairie points in the border!!!

Remembering the lesson that I can usually shanghai my BMQG friends in to helping me baste, I took this up to our retreat last weekend.  Conversation and a glass of wine makes crawling around on the floor pinning so much more tolerable!

I used this as a chance to practice some new FMQ.  In the center I tried the Loop & Double Loop Swirls from Free Motion Quilting with the amazing Angela Walters.  For the outer border I went with my usual heart paisley.  I did some dense rows of straight line quilting in the inner border but I wish I'd done the same on the edges of the outer border.  Live and learn;-)

Best of all I had already made the binding when I pieced the top so all I had to do was slap it on.  A cozy night of TV with my DH and I can call this one done!!!
